WILD WEST MODIFIED TOUR Weekend Preview
Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado
WHAT? The 2011 EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour will now head to the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado for one of the final races of the 2011 EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour season.
With only four races left in the series, things are starting to heat up as drivers race their way into the top twenty in the standings and set themselves up to be in contention for the championship.
Justen Yeager of Green River, Wyoming still leads the points over 2010 WWMT Champion, Zane DeVilbiss of Farmington, New Mexico by 20 points. Michael Hale of West Valley City, Utah is sitting in third, 48 points back.
Last year, Ryan Cotrell of Las Vegas, Nevada and Justen Yeager of Green River, Wyoming took home the checkers at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado
Last race, Zane DeVilbiss of Farmington, New Mexico and Justen Yeager of Green River, Wyoming took home the top prize in Rock Springs, Wyoming at the Sweetwater Speedway on July 15 & 16. Yeager and DeVilbiss also have WWMT wins in Cortez as well.
Other winners at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado during EQ Wild West Modified Tour action are Ricky Alvarado and Ryan Cotrell.
Cortez will be a very important race for those that are running for the championship and to get into the top twenty in the standings to run in the WWMT Top 20 Showdown in Las Vegas, Nevada during the Duel in the Desert in November.
Also during this weekend, the Inaugural WWMT Pit Crew Challenge will take place.

Michael Hale of West Valley City, Utah took home his first EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour feature at the Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah on May 28, 2011. Travis Metz of Blackfoot also went to victory lane at Price on May 27, 2011 earning his fourth career Tour win.
Porter Smith of Aztec, New Mexico took home his first EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour win during the 2011 opener of the series on April 22, 2011. Mother Nature took the win on April 23, 2011 for the first time in 59 WWMT races.
