WILD WEST MODIFIED TOUR Weekend Preview
Atomic Motor Raceway in Atomic City, Idaho
WHAT? The battle for the 2011 EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Championship just got a little more interesting as the gap from first to second narrowed up after the races in Cortez, Colorado at the Fairgrounds Speedway.
Justen Yeager of Green River, Wyoming leads Zane DeVilbiss of Farmington, New Mexico by only seven points. After winning both nights in Cortez, Colorado, Zane DeVilbiss cut the points from twenty to seven.
Both drivers have already won the series title once before, Yeager in 2009 and DeVilbiss in 2010. One of them will join Ricky Alvarado as being a two-time champion.
As the battle for the championship heats up, the battle to be in the 2011 WWMT Top 20 Showdown held in Las Vegas is really heating up as well.
The top four spots in the standings are mathematically locked into the race, but fifth through forty-ninth in the standings can be in or out. (Check 2011 WWMT Point Standings below to see who is in and out, and who can make it)
All of this will be decided at the Atomic Motor Raceway in Atomic City, Idaho.
Last year, Zane DeVilbiss took home the feature win on Friday and was crowned the 2010 EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Champion on Saturday, the closest point battle in WWMT history, he beat Justen Yeager by only two points.
Ryan Cotrell of Las Vegas, Nevada was the feature winner that night.
Former winners at Atomic Motor Raceway during WWMT action include, Ricky Alvarado with 3, Zane DeVilbiss with 2, Ryan Cotrell, Travis Metz, and Justen Yeager with each 1.
Also, the field will be set for the 2011 WWMT All-Star Race the next weekend at the Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah during the Sixth Annual Castle Country Clash.
