Sweetwater Speedway hosts May 18-19, EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour opener ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – Justen Yeager begins defense of his series title at his home track, when the 2012 EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour for IMCA Modifieds opens with a Friday and Saturday, May 18-19 doubleheader at Sweetwater Speedway. Both features pay $1,000 to win and are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points, as well as special series points, will be awarded. Pit gates at Rock Springs open at 3 p.m. and the grandstands at 4 p.m. both days. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids ages 6-12, with five and under free. Pit passes are $25. This is the first time in the series’ six seasons that Sweetwater has hosted the tour opening twinbill. Ricky Alvarado of Delta, Colo., collected three of his series-best 23 feature wins at Sweetwater, in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Yeager, from Green River, won there in 2009 and again last season. Las Vegas, Nev., hotshoe Ryan Cotrell swept the 2010 twinbill. Matt Brack of Mead, Colo., and Zane DeVilbiss of Farmington, N.M., were winners at Rock Springs in 2008 and 2011, respectively. Yeager goes into the weekend with a series winning streak of two: He clinched is career second EQ WWMT crown by sweeping the final doubleheader of 2011 at Atomic Motor Raceway.
