SPANGLER, YEAGER WIN EQ WILD WEST TOUR RACES IN ELY!
ELY, Nev. (June 15-16)- Aaron Spangler of Dove Creek, Colorado took the lead with two laps to go when race leader Justen Yeager made contact with an infield tire while avoiding a lapped car. The race went green-white-checkered and Aaron drove to victory on night one in Ely.
2010 IMCA National Champion, Zane DeVilbiss took the runner-up spot with Cory Sample, Michael Hale, and Dan Fitzgerald finished in the top five. Jake Holland was the hard charger as he advanced eight spots to finish sixth.
Then, defending series champion, Justen Yeager rebounded with a win the second night at the Great Basin Raceway in Ely, Nevada. Yeager started in the twelfth spot and took the lead early and never looked back.
Rounding out the top five were, hard charger of the night, Jake Holland who advanced sixteen spots, Zane DeVilbiss, Chase Hansen, and Aaron Spangler who clinched the Evenson Law Office Ironman Challenge Series championship that night.
Dustin Hansen also advanced sixteen spots to finish seventh. Dan Fitzgerald and Steve Evenson advanced fifteen spots as well.
The Great Basin Raceway doubleheader was also the final two races of the 2012 Evenson Law Office Ironman Challenge Series. Aaron Spangler won the title over Robert Miller of Vallejo, California. Miller led the championship standings by seven points going into the final night.
Miller ended up runner-up in the standings after getting tangled up with a couple of cars during the feature.
Currently, the series has four different winners in four races. The next series doubleheader will be at the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah on July 20-21.
