ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – Opening night for the seventh annual series brings the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour back to Sweetwater Speedway this weekend.
IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $1,000 to win Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8 at Rock Springs. Both events are qualifiers for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sport Mods are also on the program both evenings.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors ages 60 and over and kids, and free for youngsters six and under. Pit passes are $25.
IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points, as well as special series points, will be awarded Friday and Saturday. Both race programs will be broadcast over the internet by XSAN.
David Karst of Mills and Will Brack of Mead, Colo., both became first-time series winners when the WWMT opened at Sweetwater last year.
A total of 11 tour events have been held at Rock Springs. Ricky Alvarado of Delta, Colo., leads all drivers with three series wins there.
Three-time and defending series champion Justen Yeager of Green River and Ryan Cotrell of Las Vegas have each won twice. Matt Brack of Mead, Colo., and Zane DeVilbiss of Farmington, N.M., both won once at Sweetwater.
The June 28-29 Wild West Tour twinbill at Great Basin Speedway in Ely, Nev., also features a pair of $1,000 to win Modified features and is part of the Evenson Law Office Iron Man Challenge Series.
