EQ Wild West Tour, Evenson Iron Man twinbills this weekend at Great Basin

ELY, Nev. (June 24) – Two IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Series share top billing at Great Basin Raceway this weekend.
Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29 events at Ely figure toward EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour and Evenson Law Office Iron Man Challenge Series standings.
Both features pay $1,250 to win and are 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying races. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded for each show.
Aaron Spangler of Dove Creek, Colo., and Justen Yeager of Green River, Wyo., were feature winners when the series traveled to Ely last year. Spangler went on to win the Iron Man tour crown while Yeager reigned in the WWMT.
The pits will be open all day Friday and Saturday. Racing starts at 6:30 p.m.
New clay was delivered to the 3/8-mile oval beginning last Saturday. Camping, but no hookups, is available at the track.
The inaugural Great Basin Showdown will be held Sunday, June 30 at Ely and pays $1,500 to the Modified winner. Racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps.
Also an All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier, the Showdown awards national, regional and state, but no special series points.
IMCA SportMods are also on the program each night. They’ll race for $500 to win, along with national and state points.
XSAN will broadcast all three shows.

The Iron Man Challenge Series concludes with a July 3 and 4 doubleheader at Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon. The third of five doubleheaders for the Wild West Tour is July 19 and 20 at Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah.
